Transient Global Amnesia

TGA is a sudden, temporary episode of anterograde amnesia, often lasting <24 hours, with preservation of personal identity. Etiology is unclear; triggers may include emotional stress, exertion, or migraine. Pathophysiology involves transient dysfunction of the hippocampus and related networks. Diagnosis is clinical, with exclusion of stroke, seizure, or metabolic disorders. Management is supportive; prognosis is excellent, with complete recovery and low recurrence.
