Hemispatial Neglect

Hemispatial neglect is a neurocognitive disorder characterized by failure to attend to one side of space, usually following right parietal lobe damage. Etiology includes stroke, trauma, or tumor. Pathophysiology involves disruption of attentional networks in the parietal and frontal cortices. Diagnosis is clinical, supplemented by neuropsychological testing. Management includes rehabilitation and visual scanning training; prognosis varies, with partial recovery common over months.
