Cerebellitis
Cerebellitis is an inflammatory disorder of the cerebellum, often post-infectious or autoimmune in etiology. Clinically, patients present with acute or subacute onset of ataxia, dysarthria, nystagmus, and vertigo. Diagnosis is based on clinical presentation, MRI showing cerebellar inflammation, and exclusion of structural lesions or infection. Management is supportive, sometimes including immunotherapy or corticosteroids depending on underlying cause. Prognosis is generally favorable in children, with most recovering fully, whereas adult cases may have residual deficits.
