Adie Syndrome
Adie syndrome is a neurological disorder affecting parasympathetic innervation of the eye, characterized by a tonic, dilated pupil with slow light reflex and preserved near response. Etiology is often idiopathic, though it may result from viral or post-infectious autonomic neuropathy. Patients may report photophobia, blurred vision, or anisocoria. Diagnosis is clinical, confirmed by pharmacologic testing with dilute pilocarpine. Treatment is typically conservative, with corrective lenses for near vision or pilocarpine drops if symptomatic; prognosis is benign, although the condition may persist lifelong.
