About
Transforming Lives Through Advocacy, Awareness, and Education
The North Carolina Neurological Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness, providing education, and advocating for people living with neurological and psychiatric conditions. I started this foundation to help others understand these conditions, offer support to those affected, and inspire communities to act with empathy and care.
Through awareness, education, and advocacy, the foundation highlights the challenges and resilience of individuals living with these conditions. My goal is to provide resources, share knowledge, and create opportunities for meaningful connection—helping communities support, understand, and empower those who need it most.
Guided by a philosophy of understanding and compassion, the North Carolina Neurological Foundation aims to create a space where knowledge meets empathy, where individuals feel supported, and where communities are inspired to make a real difference.

Elijah Holland Founder & Executive Director
Hello! I’m Elijah Holland, and I’m the founder of the North Carolina Neurological Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education, and advocating for individuals living with neurological and psychiatric conditions. My passion for this work comes from personal experience: I have navigated my own mental health challenges, and my sister lives with dysautonomia, a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system. Seeing firsthand how these conditions can impact daily life inspired me to create a space that empowers, educates, and connects people while promoting understanding and empathy for neurological and psychiatric conditions.
I’m currently a ninth-grade student, and I’ve always been deeply curious about the world around me. One of the most fascinating aspects of being human is the brain itself, and neuroscience offers a window into what makes each of us unique. Driven by this curiosity, I’ve devoted considerable time to learning about the brain, the nervous system, and the complexities of mental and neurological health. My goal is to make these subjects accessible and engaging, inspiring others to explore the science behind how we think, feel, and experience the world.
Through the North Carolina Neurological Foundation, I aim to raise awareness, promote advocacy, and provide education about neurological and psychiatric conditions. I want to give people the tools to understand these conditions, appreciate the daily realities of those living with them, and take meaningful action in their communities. By amplifying voices that are often unheard and creating opportunities for education and support, I hope to empower patients, families, and advocates alike.
Learning and exploration have always been at the core of who I am. I am passionate about science, health sciences, and mathematics, and I thrive when I’m pushing myself to understand challenging concepts or apply knowledge in new ways. My curiosity drives me not only in academics but also in thinking critically about how I can make a positive impact in the world.
Looking ahead, I aspire to become a neurologist, focusing on dysautonomia and other conditions that affect the nervous system. This aspiration is deeply personal: witnessing my sister navigate her daily challenges has inspired me to approach medicine with empathy, advocacy, and a commitment to improving the lives of those affected.
This foundation, and the work I do through it, reflects my belief in the power of knowledge, compassion, and curiosity. I hope that by sharing my journey, my ideas, and my passion for neuroscience and advocacy, I can inspire others to explore, learn, and take action in ways that make a meaningful difference.
