Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (Predominantly Hyperactive–impulsive Presentation)
This subtype is defined by excessive motor activity, impulsivity, and difficulty inhibiting responses, often without prominent inattention. Etiological factors mirror those of the inattentive type, with additional emphasis on impaired executive function and behavioral regulation. Clinically, patients present with fidgeting, difficulty remaining seated, interrupting others, and engaging in risky behaviors. Diagnosis relies on standardized assessment tools, clinical interview, and observation across multiple settings. Management includes behavioral therapy, parent training, and pharmacologic treatment. Prognosis is variable, with sustained support improving adaptive functioning.
