Inhalant-induced Psychotic Disorder
This disorder is characterized by psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking directly attributable to inhalant use. Etiology involves acute or chronic exposure to volatile substances. Clinical presentation includes agitation, paranoia, perceptual disturbances, and functional impairment. Diagnosis requires temporal association with inhalant use and exclusion of primary psychotic disorders. Management consists of cessation, supportive care, and antipsychotic treatment if severe. Prognosis is favorable with early recognition, cessation, and sustained abstinence.
