Spinal Cord Injury
SCI refers to traumatic or non-traumatic injury to the spinal cord resulting in motor, sensory, and autonomic dysfunction below the lesion. Pathophysiology involves primary mechanical injury and secondary processes such as ischemia, inflammation, and apoptosis. Diagnosis is clinical, supported by imaging and electrophysiology. Management is multidisciplinary, including acute stabilization, surgical decompression, rehabilitation, and prevention of complications. Prognosis depends on injury level, completeness, and promptness of treatment.
