Pick Disease
Pick disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive behavioral changes, language impairment, and frontal/temporal lobe atrophy. Pathophysiology involves accumulation of tau protein (Pick bodies) in neurons. Diagnosis is clinical, supported by neuroimaging and exclusion of other dementias. Management is symptomatic and supportive, including behavioral therapy and caregiver support; prognosis involves progressive cognitive and functional decline.
